Michael Bower, an L.A. hair stylist, was in a jam. His client was heading out of town and needed his hair done, but he also needed to take his dog, “Spackle,” to a groomer that afternoon. Bower had a brainstorm. He called a local groomer friend to come by his shop, and a great idea was born. The groomer moved in, the word quickly spread, and now many of his clients have started bringing their pets in every Saturday as part of a pet/owner beauty day.
“People love spending time with their pets, and many pamper them by getting their hair done together,” says Michael Bower, owner of Bower Salon, in Los Angeles.
Before each hair style, both pet and owner enjoy a free back rub, bottled water and an assortment of snacks.
“We want our clients, furry and hairy to both feel pampered,” says Bower. “Most of our clientele is gay, but we welcome everyone so long as they love pets.”
