Doggy Door in Goodyear has a new owner

Doggy Door of the West Valley in Goodyear doesn’t have expansive aisles, bright and shiny equipment or tall ceilings like big pet-grooming chains. But what it lacks in style, it makes up for in character.

This neighborhood business, under new ownership, has been catering to West Valley residents for more than 20 years. Customers are treated like family and come back year after year.

Arizona native Connie Redman in November took over the shop from the previous owners, Gary Copeland and Tammy Williams, a father-and-daughter team.

Redman intends to keep the business growing and expand her customer base.

“I am so excited that I have gotten the opportunity to own my own business,” said Redman, 49, of Laveen. “This is an exciting and fun challenge.”

Redman has been in the pet-grooming business for nine years. She was a groomer for PetSmart and for an independent dog-grooming shop in the Southwest Valley.
