Firefighters receive animal rescue equipment

Brockport’s Fire Chief Timothy Rombaut accepted a new set of oxygen masks that are very different from the one his people are used to. These have been specially designed for animals and were donated by the customers at Country Pet Grooming Salon in Clarkson.

Susan Alexander, former EMT-Paramedic with Brockport’s Ambulance and owner/groomer at the shop, had seen the masks advertised in a magazine. When she discussed the frustrations she had experienced as a paramedic with several of her customers when an animal had been overcome by smoke, they decided Brockport’s Rescue Squad should have this equipment available when the need arises.

Alexander placed a jug in her shop for her customers to make donations for the masks. When enough money had been collected to purchase two sets with three sizes in each set, the order was placed. She delivered them to Rombaut and he placed them on Rescue 238, which responds to all house fires.
