Familiarity breeds content in clients in for grooming at Sissy”s pet salon

Eight-month-old Shih Tzu Savannah hadn’t experienced much luck with dog groomers.

“The dog was getting seriously stressed. We used to give her medicine. That’s how bad it was,” said Sasha Santini, Savannah’s owner.

But Savannah’s luck turned around when Santini took her to Sissy’s Pet Grooming Salon, which opened Nov. 18 at 7350 N. La Cholla Blvd.

“She did fabulously,” Santini said after taking her dog home from its first session at Sissy’s, which she said is “almost like going to a spa” for the dog.

Business owner Redda “Sissy” Denker, 53, owns Shih Tzus, so she is very familiar with the breed’s temperament — a factor that Santini said greatly improved Savannah’s grooming experience.
