Dog groomers were once viewed as dilettantes who couldn’t get into Beauty School.

No longer.

The Midwest’s oldest, largest canine grooming show — in Rosemont this weekend — demonstrated how the business has changed since the event was first held in 1973.

It’s a billion-dollar industry. The demand for trained groomers is high. One booth at the All American Grooming Show was selling $1,000 scissors.
